Vienna Prater

The Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater was erected in 1897 to honor Emperor Franz Joseph I's 50-year reign. A must-do during your stay in Vienna is to take a ride on the Ferris wheel! From afar, its old red gondolas offer a fascinating and lively sight.

Right after entering, you come into a small room where Vienna's history is depicted in replicas of the Ferris wheel’s carriages. This lovingly crafted exhibition provides a wonderful insight into the city's development. The ride on the Ferris wheel is not fast, allowing you to leisurely gaze over the rooftops of Vienna and enjoy the panorama of the surrounding area.
